From Earth to Cup: Recognising Quality Plants
Appearance, fragrance and careful storage reveal much about the quality of plants before they reach the cup.
Even before infusion, a plant can tell us a great deal. Its appearance, fragrance and condition offer clues about how it was selected and prepared.
Look at what you are drinking
Recognisable, well-preserved leaves, flowers and pieces of spice allow us to see what will enter the cup. Natural ingredients need not look perfectly identical; variation is part of their character.
Colour may change slightly from one harvest to another. Plants are living ingredients, not uniform industrial products.
Knowing what goes into the cup is part of the ritual.

Let fragrance guide you
The fragrance should feel present and natural rather than artificially overpowering. Gently opening the package and noticing the first aroma is one of the simplest ways to meet a plant before infusion.
Protect quality at home
Storage matters too. Plants prefer a dry, cool place protected from direct light, moisture and strong surrounding odours. Closing the package carefully helps preserve their aromatic qualities for longer.
At Malak Magic, we love the idea of looking at the plants before infusing them. Knowing what goes into the cup is part of the ritual.
